Iron Sulfate is an essential tool for any serious dyer. Known historically as green vitriol or copperas, Iron Sulfate is used both as a mordant and color modifier. It acts as a "saddening" agent, making colors darker and more subdued while enhancing their lightfastness. Simply add 1.5% Iron Sulfate to the dry weight of your fibre or fabric to achieve striking results.
